Radio Engineering - August, 1928

Radio Engineering - August, 1928

Of all of the radio magazines that have been published this is my favorite.  Radio Engineering, first published in 1921, was a highly technical publication, appealing to radio design engineers, radio station engineers, and servicemen and enthusiasts with a strong technical background.  Through most of its run the covers were rather nondescript, but for a while in the late 1920s they used this Art Deco beauty in a different color each month.  The title graphic used on my top page is derived from this cover.

Radio Broadcast - March, 1929

Radio Broadcast - March, 1929

Radio Broadcast was a very early radio industry magazine, published since 1915.  Its readers were generally involved in the manufacture, sales or service of radio receivers and equipment.

Radio - June, 1929

Radio - June, 1929

Radio was another early technical publication for the radio industry.  It began publication in 1917 and included articles on radio in particular and electronics in general.

Electronics - August, 1933

Electronics - August, 1933

Electronics is the premiere magazine of the electronics industry.  Its strong suit has always been articles detailing new electronic components, equipment and systems, written by those who developed them.  This cover displays prototypes of a new type of miniature tube developed by RCA for use above 300 MHz.  These prototypes led directly to RCA's introduction of the first acorn tube, the 955, in 1934.

Service - March, 1937

Service - March, 1937

Service was intended for those in the radio service trade.  Articles covered topics such as new circuits developed by radio manufacturers, new parts and equipment, and new techniques in troubleshooting and repair.  Each issue also included schematics and service information for several consumer radio receivers.
