Plymouth County Queries
Sorted By Date
A queries page is not a shortcut for research. It is intended to aid those who have already exhausted easily available sources of information and are looking for information from new, obscure or hard-to-find sources. If you submit a query the webmaster may reject it if he decides that you should first pursue other avenues of research.
This queries page is intended only for genealogical research. Please ask specific genealogical questions about specific individuals. General inquiries about families, or inquiries such as searches for living relatives, are not appropriate and will not be posted. Inquiries about twentieth-century individuals may not be accepted because they are too recent. If you would like to list the families that you are researching, or would like to have your web site listed, our Family Researchers and Family Web Pages listings are what you need.
This page is reserved for queries about people who lived in Plymouth County, but whose town of residence is unknown, or who lived in multiple towns. If you know the Plymouth County town of residence for a person you should post your query to one of the town-specific query pages, if one exists for that town. See the Town Websites to check for town-specific query pages. In addition to this page you could post your query in the Plymouth Colony Forums in order to reach a larger audience.
I've prepared a submission form for queries. You can include multiple surnames in your query, and it will be indexed under each surname. Please bear in mind that I periodically review the queries in order to verify the email addresses. Please send me email if you change your email address. If the address for a query is no longer valid that query will be deleted.
PLEASE NOTE that email addresses on this page other than my own are displayed as graphics, not as links. I understand that this is inconvenient for some visitors, especially those who are visually impaired. I believe that it is necessary in order to reduce spam and protect the privacy of those posting queries.
How These Queries Are Organized
Queries are organized in two pages. The queries themselves appear as queries sorted by date. The surnames heading each query are hyperlinked to the index of surnames so you can look for other queries with the same surname. The index is just that - an index with no actual queries, where each entry consists of a surname followed by individual links to each query which includes that surname.

SNOW
August 23, 1998; Betty Donaldson
![]()
I am descended through Constance and Nicholas SNOW. My problem is Lemuel, son of Jonathan SNOW and Sarah BANGS. They married February 24, 1736, and Lemuel was born in 1729. This cannot be right, but I go to the LDS library often and have not found this to be correct. Yet my aunt lived in CT and she must have found it someplace. But Lemuel was born before they were married. Can you help me out, I have been at this for a few years. I need help on Mom's side (GUNNING), and my husbands family. They came from Scotland shortly before he was born in 1917. I have very little information to go on, only his name and his mother's, but I have two different spellings for her name. If you can help me I will be very grateful. Betty Donaldson, 398 Hawthorne, Eugene, OR 97404.

I am researching my g-g-grandmother's family (ELLIS). I have traced them all the way back to the Mayflower. I am more interested in learning about the family in general. The earliest person I know anything about is one John Milton ELLIS, Esq., of Plympton. His daughter, Maria Chandler ELLIS, moved to Philadelphia with her mother, Abigail Ripley CHANDLER, and married one Charles BRIGHTLY. She then married my g-g-grandfather and lived and died in Yardville, NJ. Anyone know anything about her or her family?
HAYARD /
HAYWARD
June 30, 1997; Dan Olsen

I am researching Thomas HAYWARD who came to Bridgewater around 1638. I have good information on him and his descendants, but I am always trying to verify my information. Some of it is from books and other is from family history written by one of my ancestors. It was found in my grandmother's house, and is handwritten. It looks like it was written around the late 1800s. My great-grandmother was a HAYWARD and a descendant of Thomas HAYWARD, who died about 1681.
