RECORDS FROM THE OLD BURIAL GROUND
AT THE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, MARSHFIELD

COMMUNICATED BY JOHN W. WILLARD

   IN July, 1906, the writer, with the assistance of Messrs. Stanley W. Smith, Edward H. Whorf and Arthur E. Linnell, copied and carefully verified all inscriptions dated prior to 1851, with a few of later date, found in the Old Burial Ground at the Congregational Church, not far from the Marshfield, Mass., railroad station.   These copies were presented to the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, and all genealogical facts contained in the inscriptions will be found in the following abstracts.


ADAMS
Alice, wife of Joseph, died 14 April, 1762, in her 82d year.
Huldah, "Mrs", died 4 June, 1749, in her 29th year.
Joseph, died 19 July, 1750, in his 83d year.

AMES, see also EAMES
Anthony, died 17 April, 1739, in his 76th year.
Azel, Capt., died 3 March, 1842, aged 58 years.
Barzilla, died at Demarara, S. A., 22 February, 1800, in his 27th year.   [On stone with Rebecca.]
Edwin, son of Albert and Abigail, died 3 January, 1839, aged 8 years, 26 days.
George W., son of Elijah, Jr., and Sarah A.; born 4 October, 1845; died 4 November, 1849.   [On Waterman Thomas monument.]
Joanna Winslow, daughter of Capt. Azel and Mercy, died 11 October, 1822, aged 1 year, 5 months, 8 days.
John T., son of Elijah, Jr., and Sarah A.; born 7 November, 1841; died 13 March, 1843.   [On Waterman Thomas monument.]
Mercy, daughter of Capt. Azel and Mercy, died 1 December, 1838, in her 21st year.
