1. JOHN,1 from Dorchester, in Dorset, Eng., was a resident of Dor., Mass., as early as 1633; but ab. 1640 removed to Scit., and thence, in 1652, to Lancaster, Mass., where he d. 24 Sept. 1662, and his wid. d. 17 May, 1671. Freeman 1643. His sons, who prob. came from Eng. with him, were: I. JOHN, who settled at Lancaster; II. ROBERT (2) of Scit.; III. JONATHAN; IV. JOB, was of Lancaster; V. JAMES. There also were dau's CATHERINE, ABIGAIL, and MARY. CATHERINE, says Deane's History, m. in 1644, Rhodolphus Ellmes of Scit., and left a numerous posterity.

3. ISRAEL3 (Robert2, John1), succeeded to the residence of his fa., and was a "well-to-do" inhabitant of Scit. He m. in Hing. May 28, 1700, Mary Stodder, dau. of Samuel and Elizabeth (Gill) Stodder. She was b. in Hing. Aug. 30, 1672. Israel d. 5 May, 1733. In the settlement of his est. he is called "husbandman." Sons Israel of Hing. and John of Scit. were appointed administrators.
