LEVI, who came to Hing. 1837, and engaged successively in the mackerel fisheries and in coasting voyages, was b. at Orland, Me. Oct. 22, 1804. He m. first, Sept. 22, 1827, Naomi Jones, who d. at Boston, 24 Jan. 1833. His sec. w., whom he m. in 1837, was Mrs. Eliza Ann Webster. She d. at Wey. 4 June, 1865, æt. 55 yrs. Levi was lost at sea, Sept. 1865, æt. 61st yr. "Master-mariner." Resided on Green St.

OLIVER (Thomas = Priscilla Cushing), was b. at Lunenburg, Mass., June 3, 1807. His mother, Priscilla Cushing, was a dau. of Col. Charles and Hannah (Croade) Cushing (II. 164), and a descendant of Matthew Cushing, one of the early settlers of Hing. Oliver was grad. at Har. Coll. 1826. He was ordained Nov. 9, 1831, at Northampton. After preaching for short periods at Northampton, Newburyport, and Boston, he was called, in May, 1839, to supply the pulpit of the Third Cong. Society in Hing.; and Apr. 1, 1840, he was permanently settled as the minister of this parish. This pastoral relation continued until Sept. 30, 1856, when he accepted the position of president of the Meadville Theological School. Sept. 1, 1863, he succeeded Rev. Convers Francis at Har. Coll., as professor of theology, and Dean of the Divinity School, which position he held until 1877, when he retired from active work. S. T. D., Har. Coll. 1857. He m. first,
