   29.   LUTHER6 (Nathaniel5 Isaac4 David3 Stephen2-1), b. in Hing. Aug. 22, 1764.   m. first, Aug. 13, 1795, Elizabeth Barker, dau. of Francis and Grace (Leavitt) Barker.   She was b. in Hing. Feb. 3, 1771, and d. ——.   He m. secondly, at Boston, Dec. 21, 1817, Betsey Cole, and d. at New Orleans, La., 1823, æt. 59 yrs.   "Shipmaster."   At sixteen yrs. of age he served on board the "Protector," and was in the celebrated battle with the British frigate "Admiral Duff."   He removed soon after his first m'ge to Westford, Mass.

Bank.   Resided on North, and late in life on Lincoln St.

   31.   JAIRUS7 (Hawkes6 David5-4-3 Stephen2-1), b. at Boston, Apr. 16, 1794.   m. first, at Cambridge, Dec. 3, 1818, Mary Cotton Ware, dau. of Rev. Henry and Mary (Clark) Ware.   She was b. in Hing. Dec. 3, 1792, and d. at Northboro', Mass., 29 March, 1862, æt. 69 yrs.   He m. secondly, at Northboro', Feb. 19, 1863, Mrs. Harriet (Ball) Mayo, a dau. of Dr. Stephen Ball.   Jairus d. at N. 12 May, 1882, æt. 88 yrs.   He grad. at Har. Coll. 1814.   Was for sev. yrs. teacher of a private school, and later of a grammar school in Hing.; afts. "farmer."   Resided on Main, near Water St., until he removed to Northboro'.
