An examination of the calendar shows that, in every case, the day of the week set opposite a birth date, in this bible record, was correctly stated, confirming the accuracy of the birth dates and emphasizing the reliability of the death records.

     Among the original volumes of records of births, etc., in the town of Duxbury, is one with "Births 1764 to             Deaths" on the back; and on its side is "Duxbury Record of Births No 6" .   It has about 400 pages, and the first 380 pages are devoted exclusively to family records.   There are also a few records on one unnumbered page near the end.   The date 1764, on the back, is not strictly accurate, as a few earlier birth dates were entered.

     This volume of original records was overlooked by the N. E. H. G. Society, and therefore was not copied for use in compiling its printed book of "Duxbury Vital Records."

     On page 258 of this book we find:

" Record of William & Mary Paulding's Family
  William James Paulding was born June 10, 1831.
  Mary E. Paulding was born September 3, 1833.
  Elisabeth Thomas Paulding was born Octr—6, 1829
  Elisabeth T. Paulding died July 28—1830
  Hiram T. was born Augugust 5, 1836
  Hiram T. Paulding died May 14, 1837
  Mary E. Paulding died July 9, 1838
  Sarah S. Paulding was born [*] 23. 1839.
  Mary E. Paulding was born January 29, 1841.
  Mary E. Paulding died February 19, 1842.
  Emma Paulding was born September 7. 1843."

     All of these entries, except the birth of Emma Paulding, were written at one time.

     In 1851, Ichabod Alden made for the town a copy of the old records of births, marriages and deaths.   His copy, unfortunately, was very inaccurate, and in copying William Paulding's family, from the volume "Births 1764", he not only changed the spelling, but copied "Sarah S." as "Sarah H".   It should be noted that he entered the page reference, 258, to the original, from which he was copying.   The two records in italics were entered in a different hand.   The Alden copy follows:
